Earlier today, I got a phone call from a friend. but I was in the middle of something do I couldn't answer it. I'm going to try to call him back later tonight.
아까, 친구한테 전화가 왔어.  근데 내가 뭘 좀 하고 있었어(하는 중이었어) 그래서 못받았어.  이따 밤에 다시 전화해보려고.

• later (아침/오후/저녁 모두 쓸 수 있음. 이따가인데 오늘을 지나지 않는. 밤에도 쓸 수 있음)
• I was in the middle of sth(뭔가를 하는 중이었어, 뭔가를 하고 있어서 바쁜 와중이었어)

영어를 임하는 자세

• 영어를 배우는데 순서는 없다. 
• 그냥 일단 배우되 어려우면 이런게 있다로 알고있으면 된다
• 그리고 일상에서 생각하는 내용들이 배워야 할 내용이다 
• 사람마다 자주 쓰는 단어와 습관이 있다 
• 평소에 있었던 일을 영어로 바꾸는게 장기적으로 봤을때 중요한 노력이다

[#002]일상을 영어로 말하기 - "돌아오는 길에 (무엇)이 생각나서 잠깐 어디에 좀 들렀어."

I took my dogs out to the park today. We were there for about an hour. On our way back, I remembered that we were almost out of dog food, so we stopped by the store to pick up some dog food and some snacks.
오늘 강아지들을 공원에 데리고 나갔었어요. 거기에 한 시간정도 있었어요. 돌아오는 길에, 강아지 사료(dog food)가 거의 떨어졌다는게 생각나서 가게에 들러서 강아지 사료랑 간식을 좀 샀어요.

I remembered that we were almost out of dog food, so we stopped by the store to pick up some dog food and some snacks.
오늘 강아지들을 공원에 데리고 나갔었어요. 거기에 한 시간정도 있었어요. 돌아오는 길에, 강아지 사료(dog food)가 거의 떨어졌다는게 생각나서 가게에 들러서 강아지 사료랑 간식을 좀 샀어요.

i drove my car out of the offroad. i was there for 10 minute on our way back, i remembered that i was almost out of frezzer, so i stopped by the Drive-through to pick up some burger and some beverage

• be (almost) out of  무엇 : 무엇을 다 써서 다 떨어진 
• stop by the store : (무엇을 사기 위해) 가게에 들르다.

• go to the park 도 하나의 레져활동으로 취급해서 일반적인 얘기에서 하나의 동사로 생각한다.
• go to the park 병원을 가다 처럼 일상생활과 공공 . 편의시설과 연결되면 the를 붙이고 하나의 동사로 취급
• stop by 도 잠깐 들렀다라고 자연스럽게 활동하는것으로 간주해서 쓰는 말로 취급

[#003]일상을 영어로 말하기 - 오랜만에 친구를 만났어. 별거 한건 없고 그냥 술 한잔 하고 얘기했어

I hung out with a friend yesterday. We hadn't seen each other in a while. We didn't do much. We just went out for some drinks and talked for a couple of hours.
어제 오랜만에 친구를 만났어요. 별거 안했어요. 그냥 (어디 가서) 술 한 잔 하면서 몇시간 동안 얘기 했어요.

• hang out with friend  : 친구랑 놀았다, 만났다 
• we didn't do much = 우리는 많은것을 하지 않았다 = 별거 안했다

• meet 도 만나다 이지만, 처음으로 만난다 할때 많이 사용하고 hang out은 친구랑 만나다랑 더 적합
• hang out with a friend 에서 a friend 는 여러 친구중에 1명
• hang out with my friend는 친구가 1명밖에 없다는 뜻
• 외국식으로 보면 오랜만에 = 무엇을 했다 + 한동안 그것을 하지 않았었다.

[#004]일상을 영어로 말하기 - 겨우 ~했다, ~할 줄은 정말 몰랐다

I went to Starbucks yesterday, quite late at night, around 9 o"clock and there were so many people! I barely found a seat for my self. It was quite surprising. I really didn't expect it to be so crowded on a Sunday night.
어제 스타벅스에 갔었어요, 밤 꽤 늦게, 9시쯤에요. 근데 사람이 엄청 많았어요! 저 앉을 자리 하나 겨우 찾았어요. 꽤 놀라웠어요, 일요일 밤 시간에 그렇게 사람이 많을줄은 정말 몰랐어요.

[#005] 일상을 영어로 말하기 - "오늘 비온대, 오후부터 하루종일." -- "어쩐지 어둡더라"

A : The forecast says it's going to rain today, starting in the afternoon throughout the rest of the day
B : Oh, no wonder it's so dark outside. I was going to get my car washed today but I guess I should wait until after the rain

A: 오늘 비온대, 오후에 시작해서 하루종일.
B : 오늘 세차하려고 했는데 비 오고 나면 해야겠다.

[#006] 일상을 영어로 말하기 - 자주 가는 고기집, 24시 영업하는 곳, 평소보다 일찍, 생각보다 훨씬 많다

I went out for dinner yesterday. I went to a barbecue place that I often go to, about(around) once a week. They're open 24 hours so I usually like to go (there) late at night when it isn't crowded. But this time, I went (there) a little earlier than usual. I was expecting to see some more people but it was much more crowded than I thought.

어제 저녁 먹으러 나갔었어요. 1주일에 한 번 정도, 자주 가는 고깃집에 갔어요. 24시간 영업하는 곳이라 주로 밤 늦게, 사람이 없을 때 가는걸 좋아해요. 근데 이번에는 평소보다 일찍 갔었어요. 사람이 좀 더 많을거라 예상했는데 생각보다 훨씬 많더라고요.

A : 어쩔때는 뭘 먹을지 정하는게 너무 피곤해. 너도 그래?" 
B : 응. 뭔지 알아. 어쩔때는 그냥 정해져 있었으면 좋겠어. 학교 급식소처럼.

• It’s so exhausting 너무 지친다. 힘들다.
• I wish it was: 이랬으면 좋겠다.

• do you feel like that too? = 너도 그러냐? 문장 뒤에 붙이면 자연스러운 문장
• i wish 는 현실적이지않지만 희망사항 이다. 예를들어 I wish it was a little bigger. 좀 더 컸으면 좋겠다.
• decided 뒤에 for me는 내가 무엇을 하는 대신에 된 의미로 해석하는게 좋다.

A new laundromat opened right by my place. It’s so convenient. It’s within walking distance and you can pay with your credit card so you don’t have to worry about having cash with you.
우리집 바로 근처에 셀프 빨래방이 새로 생겼어요. 완전 편리해요. 걸어서 갈 수 있는 거리고요 신용카드로 지불할 수 있어서 현금 챙겨가는걸 신경쓰지 않아도 되요.

• pay in cash 현금으로 지불하다.
• you don't have to worry about + ing ~을 하는 것에 대해서는 신경쓰지 않아도 된다.  = ~을 하지 않아도 된다.
• have @@ with you ~을 소지하고있다 , ~을 챙긴다.

• open은 새로 생겼다는 의미로도 사용

I went grocery shopping today. It was long overdue so I had so many thing to buy. I think I bought almost 300,000won worth of groceries. It took long, too. Normally, it takes less than an hour, but it took almost 2 hours.
오늘 장 보러 갔었어요. 너무 오랜만이어서 살게 진짜 많았어요. 거의 30만원어치의 장을 본 것 같아요. 시간도 오래 걸렸어요. 보통은 1시간도 안걸리는데 거의 2시간 걸렸어요.

• overdue 기한이 넘은 ( 형용사로 쓰이며 어떤 일이 제때 일어나지 않고 늦어졌다 )
• 미국에는 ~을 할게 많다 = 많이 가지고있다고 표현 
• i had a lot 할 것들 = 해야할것들이 많다.
• it doesn't take 1 hour 보다 it takes less than an hour = 1시간보다 적게 걸린다

Today, I'm going to clean up my workspace. It's getting really messy. I think I have too much stuff that I never use. So I'm going to try to get rid of as much as I can.
오늘은 제 작업공간을 좀 정리할거예요. 정말 지저분해요. (지저분해지고 있어요) 평소에 안쓰는 물건(것)들이 너무 많은거 같아요. 그래서 최대한 많이(많은 것들을) 버릴려고요.
